Intermodal Network Update for Friday, October 24, 2025

Date
Oct 24, 2025

Operational Performance
BNSF operating teams are engaged in generating improved service performance across our network. Car velocity remains consistent with last week but is lower than the September average. While terminal dwell is higher than the average from last month, it has not changed significantly from the previous week and remains at record-low levels, with a year-to-date measurement 15% lower through September compared to the same period last year. Our local service compliance measure is trending close to 90%.

As reported yesterday, Union Pacific experienced a derailment on their Mojave Subdivision in California, where BNSF operates between Bakersfield and Mojave. The first main track has been returned to service overnight, while the second main track remains out of service as restoration efforts continue. An estimated time for reopening the second main track has not yet been determined. Customers may experience delays on shipments moving through the affected area until full service is restored and traffic has normalized.

Reminder: Memphis Intermodal Facility Truck Spot Check-In on November 5
BNSF remains committed to working collaboratively with the trucking community to enhance the driver experience at our intermodal facilities. To further this effort, we are implementing a new Truck Spot Check-In process at our Memphis Intermodal Facility beginning November 5.

The Truck Spot Check-In feature allows drivers to confirm their arrival at their assigned truck or transfer spot after submitting a lift request for the wide span crane area. Checking in through the RailPASS app triggers the work order for the crane operator once the driver is in position, helping ensure lifts are handled in the proper sequence and reducing unnecessary delays. This improvement streamlines communication between drivers and crane operators and enhances overall yard efficiency.

Our Driver Experience Coordinators will be on-site to assist drivers, answer questions and provide guidance on downloading and using RailPASS. Whether a new or returning user, drivers should ensure they have the latest version of RailPASS from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store.

Thank you for your continued partnership and support as we introduce Truck Spot Check-In at our Memphis facility.

Service Expectations for the Week Ahead
Severe storms are forecasted to impact Texas throughout the weekend, bringing the possibility of isolated tornadoes, wind gusts of up to 65 mph, and localized flash flooding. Today, heavy rain and storms could lead to flash flooding in parts of Kansas, Missouri, and much of Oklahoma, although conditions are expected to improve overnight. Additionally, significant rainfall will continue in the Pacific Northwest and northern California into Saturday. BNSF is closely monitoring the situation and will implement the necessary precautions to ensure safe and efficient operations.

We thank you for your business and appreciate the opportunity to serve as your transportation service provider. We welcome your feedback and questions.
